Featured - Everything you might need for a Job Interview

First off, the outfit - the most important thing, I would say! I love this suit - it is soo smart - it is by Theo Courtnay. I love the bag too!

Next up, a handy notepad to make a few notes in. This one is by UK seller Pinkswizzlestick. The lace look cover is beautiful.

A pen to go with it is a must - this one is partly made of rifle casing (whatever that is - something to do with guns!). The seller, awelldressedbullet, makes various things like clocks, belt buckles and even earrings with gun related bits and bobs - perhaps more of an American thing than a British thing! Interesting and clever nevertheless.

Lastly, a pair of glasses - so as to look intellectual (I need all the help I can get!). These are by cool vintage sellers ChicDeuxChic.

Umm, what's this?

What am I up to? Even I'm not totally sure! The UK Etsy Challenge this month has given a theme of 'Japan' - so I am attempting something appropriate. Whether it will come off I'm not sure!

Yep, I am using my very basic sewing machine. You can see the instruction manual in the photo as the bulb went and I had no idea how to change it! I mainly bought it for economic reasons - being 5ft1 meant I was spending a fortune at the dry cleaner turning up trousers - so I do it myself now! Now my sewing machine is used more for my crafts - usually making my handmade pouches for packaging.

Anyway, I will let you know how it turns out! By the way my cute pin cushion is by StrawberriesandCream on Etsy - I feel guilty putting pins in him he's so cute!

Featured - Recycled Plastic

I am writing an essay on eco-towns at the moment which got me thinking about recycling. Eco-friendly / recycled products seem to be all the rage at the moment. I won't get started on what exactly I think of recycling but the concept is clearly a good one. Making things that people actually want from used material is also great and from some of the items I found can be quite inspired!

This stunning bowl is made from recycled plastic bottles. It is by gulguvenc from Turkey - do check out her other items on her blog - there are some really amazing items!

This funky bracelet is made from orange juice containers by ArtworkbyKD - you would never have guessed it!

What about this clutch bag by SoSheSews- this is made from fused plastic bags!

So it just shows, from the ugly and functional come some really beautiful products. I'm inspired now!

Competition Entry!

I have entered a competition on Folksy - the theme was 'in the news'. My entry is totally unrelated to jewellery - as I couldn't think of a thing! It is this paper weaved card. Now, it is far from perfect but I gave it a go!

You're probably wondering what it's got to do with the news. Well, shoes have been in the news a lot over the last month. One was thrown at George Bush and hundreds were thrown at Downing Street. However this card is inspired by the mysterious shoe tree in Buckinghamshire.

I'd like to think the paper weaving kind of hints at the mystery involved in this story!

Anyway, please go and vote for it - it needs a little love - you have until midnight Sunday!

Christmas Presents Revealed!

I had a lot of fun doing my shopping! I must have spent hours browsing on Etsy for handmade goodies. Anyway, these are my Etsy purchases - all of which seem to have been much appreciated!

The notebook is by Champignons, hairbands and bamboo necklace from Gazzu, grey felt brooch by tinyminds, handbag by christystudio, turquoise circle bead necklace by snapdragonbeads, pouch by sugarcane, felt robin with wire legs by feltmeupdesigns and 3 felt robins by incywincytogs.

I also bought some fab Christmas cards by Ashleybug.

I did make some jewellery myself as well! But I am now rather wanting to treat myself....
